Heat pump-ready existing home
Project overview
The property had solid stone walls, solid brick extensions, an LPG Rayburn and a compact cylinder in a tight cupboard position.
Challenge
The existing one pipe radiator system was retained despite the common belief that it could not work with a heat pump.
AquaTherma solution
AquaTherma stripped out the old cylinder, installed a plate loaded unvented cylinder and routed Clivet heat pump primary pipes through a 600mm rubble filled stone wall.
Outcome
The system has achieved an average COP so far in excess of 5:1, with the clients happy maintaining a steady temperature around 18 degrees C.
“Aquatherma came and took a thorough look at our existing set up and were confident they could build us a system that worked.”
